We buy vinyl across nearly every era and genre, including rock (classic, psych, prog, etc.), punk, metal, jazz, soul, funk, R&B, hip-hop, country, folk, reggae, electronic, pop, indie, and alternative music. We are interested in everything from individual boxes to large collections, and we are especially interested in desirable, unusual, collectible, and well-kept records.

There are only a handful of categories we generally do not buy, including most classical, opera, easy listening, big band, crooner records, and very common "dollar bin" pop and soft rock (think Boz Scaggs, Seals & Crofts, and Leo Sayer). If you are unsure about your collection, send us a few photos or provide a brief description. No need to sort, price, or catalog it first!

The Newsagent’s buys vinyl collections throughout Raleigh and the surrounding area, including Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Garner, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, and many other neighboring counties and communities, including Fayetteville and Greensboro. For larger or especially desirable collections, we may be able to travel farther. If transporting your records is difficult, contact us about a house call.

We strongly believe that selling your records should be straightforward and transparent. When evaluating a collection, we use the same industry-standard tools relied on by record dealers and collectors, including Discogs sales history, Popsike, and eBay sold listings, to determine realistic current market value. We look at what comparable copies have actually sold for, not simply what someone is asking online.

For desirable, in-demand records, our offers are generally based on approximately 50–60% of their expected resale value, taking into account condition, pressing, demand, and current market activity. Larger collections are often evaluated as a whole, with a fair bulk offer based on the quality and value of the collection.
